wonderfully lost.
Hi, I'm Meggen! I'm a 29-year-old Environmental Consultant who travels 50% of the time for work and 20% of the time for pleasure. I live in Austin, TX (the remaining 30% of the time), where I absolutely love taking advantage of outdoor activities, live music, and the ever-growing number of restaurants in and around town. I love exploring new places, and I want to encourage you to, as well. Join me on my journey through this amazing world of ours!
a little about me
Travel is my life, quite literally. I travel for work; I travel for pleasure; I travel in my dreams.
To me, travel is essential. The people and environments of the places that I have visited have helped shape who I am today, both directly through exposure to these cultures and indirectly by broadening my worldview from an early age. Every trip I take teaches me more about the world around me and myself.
I’ve been traveling internationally since I was 6. As a child, travel gave me few clear memories of the places I went, but the experience of clumsily stammering through a language foreign to me, tasting fruits and flavor combinations that I would never encounter at home, and navigating busy roadways and third-world public transportation systems made travel an exciting part of my life that I would never be able to turn my back on. Traveling not only opened my eyes to new places, but inevitably to the potential travel lifestyle I could one day lead.
Now that I'm financing my own travel on a stable, though limited, income, I've learned how to plan an experience-packed vacation on a budget. My trips get me away from the cruise ship/tour bus scene and into the heart of a place. I like to feel a city or country, in addition to seeing it, tasting it, smelling it.
Because travel is always on my mind, I'm constantly reading helpful articles, streamlining processes of my own, or learning tips from other world-traveling friends. Traveling is what I do best, and through this blog I hope to share my passion and knowledge with you, the reader.
This blog is my happy place. It's a collection of my experiences, research, and silly little stories, all accompanied by photos I've taken along the way. I hope you find it refreshing and enlightening. Please comment like crazy and contact me with any questions or suggestions. I want this to serve as a resource for both you and me. Travel should be talked about, so let's get this conversation started!
